First Impression: Musekinin Galaxy☆Tylor

Posted in: Anime News

Synopsis

Set off into the distant future on a completely different planet, this is the story of a laid-back boy who lives in a peaceful side of a planet within a scattered galaxy  and picks up trash until he finds a fallen ship and along with his robot companion, saves a newly awakened mysterious girl.

The Good

Seeing the art style, it is something that is rarely seen in the newer anime that is being dished out these days. The long lanky limbs, the blushing cheeks, the retro like vibe in clothing, it would bring a slightly nostalgic feeling for old viewers with the reflections of old style art. The details especially are well done on the space items such the ship, technology and planet form. The plot is somewhat interesting as there is hints of history to tell.

Overall, the art style is interesting and almost retro like, the designs of space and the ship is also a plus and the plot is interesting enough from the short portion that was revealed.

The Bad

Chaotic, is the main word to describe the lesser points of episode. While it may be three minutes and the is only so much you can insert in that time frame, there are multiple other series with the same time limit and they were able to implement a semblance of plot. Here, the is a short exposition that seems not only rushed but held terminology that might just fly over the viewer’s head seeing that the series actually has a history to it that spans over decades ago.

Then there is the transition, in one seen the characters are running towards what seems to be a battle but then in the next second they’re out and about and just saved the damsel, even a second of imagery to this process would have worked but instead they fast forward it. Overall, in terms of first impression from this first episode, confused and slightly bewildered would be an accurate way to say how a new viewer of the franchise would feel for this.

Conclusion

As a short episode there is a point there is little sense made, but the level that this episode takes raises the bar in causing confusion for new viewers. The art is nice and a little piece of nostalgia from the touch of retro it has but at the same time the animation could have been better in terms of transition and the flow of the episode was as if it was on fast forward.
