Planeterium Program for Bonobono Commemorated with Screening Event

With the completion of the planetarium program titled, “Bono Bono – Uchū kara Kita Tomodachi” a.k.a. “Bono Bono – The Friend That Came From Space” a commemoration screening event was decided for the program as it released its PV on August 17.

“Bono Bono – The Friend That Came From Space” is an original animation the tells of the sudden appearance of an alien in Bonobono’s residence and the adventure it brings as the sea otter sets out for a space adventure alongside his friends to explore a funny planet.
The cast for the program include:

Fukuko Yukimiyama as Bono Bono
Aya Ogata as Chipmunk (Shimarisu)
Shinpei Takano as Raccoon (Araiguma)
Yūki Kurofuji as Fishing Cat (Sunadori Neko)

As for the staff of production they consist of:

Director: Hidenori Yamaguchi
Studio: Eiken in collaboration with TYO Animations.
Series Composition: Mitsutaka Hirota
Music Composer: Takatsugu Wakabayashi

For the commemoration screening the Gotanda Cultural Center located in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo will be hosting it starting on September 16. Set to run until the 9th of October, ticket prices for the screening start at 200 yen for adults, 50 for 4 year olds to Junior High students. Those who are ages three na d below will get free seats.

On the first day of screening, fans will have a chance to commemorate their own attendance to the screening by taking part of the “Memorial Kun Comes Up!” project where they can get photos with Mr. Bonobono. At another time there will be a distribution of postcards.

“Bonobono” started off as a 1986 yonkoma manga series by Mikio Igarashi with a total of 42 volumes being run by Manga Club. When 1995 rolled in, an anime adaptation of the series was released and had a total of 48 episodes. Following after the anime adaptation, the franchise gained two anime films and two video games.

The story of this series is quite simple, in an unnamed location there lives a sea otter by the name of Bonobono and everyday he goes on adventures with his friends in the nearby forest. Throughout its run the manga series was able to gain the Kodansha Manga Award in the General category in 1988 and the series continues to run until now.
