CLAMP’s HiGH&LOW g-sword manga comes to an end on on August 9 and Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen will be taking on the publication of the final chapter in this year’s combined 36th and 37th issue.
Based off of the HiGH&LOW live-action entertainment project, the manga was first launched on March 19th in the magazine’s 16th issue. Coming on October 18 Kodansha will also be shipping the manga’s compile book volume.
The HiGH&LOW live-action entertainment project is a work launched by Japanese supergroup Exile Tribe. Titled “HiGH&LOW: The Story of S.W.O.R.D.”, the series has a total of 10 episodes and had premiered in October 2015 with a television and Hulu broadcast in Japan. Following on June 2016, the series gained a second drama series titled, “HiGH&LOW Season 2.”
CLAMP was not the only one to create manga for the drama as in October 2015, a manga adaptation of the drama was launched by manga artist Masami Hosokawa in Akita Shoten’s Bessatsu Shōnen Champion magazine and on October a third compiled book volume was released by Akita Shoten.
More than a manga, the drama also garnered a number of adaptations ranging from anime series and a film.There was the time that NTV’s Sukkiri!! morning program broadcasted a Flash anime for five days in and shipping on October 17 is DVD bundled with special versions. In May and July 2016 respectively a film was released and coming this year are the films “HiGH&LOW The Movie 2: End of Sky” on August 19, followed by “HiGH&LOW The Movie 3: Final Mission” on November 11.
The tale of the series tells of Mugen, a legendary powerful team which once ruled a town and the only ones who were willing and powerful enough to not give up and go against this group was the formidable Amamiya Brothers. However at one point the powerful team suddenly disbanded and the Amamiya brothers disappeared without a trace.
Still, even with the two powerful groups gone, peace was not to come as a take over has risen with five groups by the name of Sannoh Hoodlum Squad, White Rascals, Oya High School, Rude Boys, and Daruma Ikka rise to the helm and together name themselves “G-SWORD” and naming the area “SWORD” after their gang names.
