Synopsis
Nanase is a polite, old-fashioned girl who didn’t understand the concept of love nor was looking for a boyfriend. But upon meeting her brother’s cheerful but shy friend, a shift is made and thus begins the first love story of a young girl considered by many as an old fashioned type housemaker.
The Good
The characters are the highlight of the chapter and what keeps a reader interested with how endearing they are. The art is simple but cute and the way the characters show expressions is enjoyable as well. The comedy mixed in is also well paced and mixed in well when it came out with the use of the brother. The short journey of the two characters ending up together is also short, simple but sweet. Basically, there is a large amount of sweetness to be found in the first chapter alone and cute characters to go with it.
The Bad
It’s a pretty generic boy meets girl kind of scenario and not all that different from thousands of other shoujo involving the brother’s best friend and little sister. There are also many cliché and predictable moments with the characters such as the misunderstanding and the flustered first love. The art is also very similar to other shoujo works and relies a lot on the character’s actions and expressions to keep the flow going. Overall it is a generic love story with cliché and predictable moments and a simple art that has been used before and relies on the actions of the characters.
Conclusion
It’s a very cute and endearing story if you’re looking for something sweet and taking focus on a first love scenario. Often times you see the cool best friend with the little sister pining after him but this is something different and refreshing. True the art is generic but it works, especially in terms of the expressions and actions of the characters. The elder brother by far is what brings the comedy scene into the plot and he works it in so well. Overall it’s a sweet endearing work that will suck you in with cute characters and good comedy.
