VIz Media was first established as VIZ LLC in 1986 before becoming what it is now when VIZ LLC and ShoPro Entertainment merged in 2005.

The first manga confirmed for licensing is Tsuyoshi Takaki’s supernatural action series, “Black Torch.” The series is currently under Jump SQ and features a supernatural world involving shinobi and animals.

This is the tale of one Jirou Azuma, a shinobu descendant who is not only learning the ways of his ancestors but holds the ability to speak to animals. Upon rescuing a black cat named Ragou, he discovers a new world where beings called mononoke hold the ability to turn into people and animals. What’s more upon making this discover he is attacked by one such hostile being.

The second manga for licensing under Viz Media is “Kaguya-sama: Love is War” a.k.a.
“Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai – Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen”, the relationship seinen by Aka Akasaka. Released in 2015, the manga fell under Miracle Jump then at one point was shifted to Young Jump.

This manga tells the tale of two members of the incredibly prestigious Shuichi’in Academy’s student council; Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane. With their high intellect they have asserted themselves as the top dog geniuses in their academy. But with all the time that they have spent together, it seems as if a flame has sparked and they have developed feelings for one another.

However, with such dominant personalities, neither wants to take the “submissive” role by confessing to the other. With pride at stake and feelings high, it is a battle of wills between the two on who will confess first.

Followed after this manga is “Kimetsu no Yaiba”, the 2016 supernatural action series created by Koyoharu Gotouge and under the magazine Shonen Jump.

This tale tells tale a young boy named Tanjiro, the oldest son of family who lost his father and works for his family. When he ventures out to sell charcoal at another town he ends up staying the night there instead of going home upon hearing rumours of a demon nearby the mountain. But upon his return home tragedy awaits him.

The last manga confirmed to be licensed by the company is Big Comic Spirits’ 2014 series “Dead Dead Demon’s Dededededestruction” by Inio Asano.

A science fiction tale, this tells of a world wherein large mysterious alien ships have been looming over Japanese towns for three years yet even with these ships looming in the sky, little has changed but at the same much has. Weapons leave no impact on the ships but much destruction on the country and aggression and plans of war are growing in size. In the midst of this, lies a tale of young high schoolers.
