A New Record for King of Prism: Pride the Hero with 300 Million at Box Office

26 days following its opening on June 10, the anime film titled, “King of Prism: PRIDE the HERO” has earned as of July 5, more than 300 million yen (about US$2.6 million), with the amount increasing to around 305 million following an estimated 186,000 tickets being sold at 56 theaters on July 6.

In its opening weekend the film sold a total of 47,000 tickets to earn 82 million yen (about US$746,000) and gained the #7 spot in the box office before falling off the top 10 chart in its second weekend.

These results in a whole new bar for the franchise as the previous film “KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm” which was released in January 16, took 40 days before reaching the same amount of profit.

“King of Prism” is a spinoff series to the idol franchise that is “Pretty Rhythm”, featuring a boys unit named “Over the Rainbow” and was first released on January 9.

The staff who worked on the film comprise of Masakazu Hishida, known to not only have worked as a director for the “Pretty Rhythm” franchise but has also worked as a storyboard artist for different series’ episode including the 14th episode of the gender bender and reverse harem series, “Ouran High School Host Club. He will once again, be working at Tatsunoko Production.

Taking on the role of script writer once more for the series is Jou Aoba, who worked on the script for the previous film and the storyboard for the “Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream” series. Credited once morefor the creation of the original character designs and the character designs for the film is Mai Matsuura, who has previously worked on the character designs for the “All Star Selection” and “Rainbow Live” series of the “Pretty Rhythm” franchise.

The cast who played in the film were cast members of the previous film who reprised their roles and include:

Junta Terashima as Shin Ichijō
Tetsuya Kakihara as Kōji Mihama
Tomoaki Maeno as Hiro Hayami
Toshiki Masuda as Kazuki Nishina
Shouta Aoi as Louis Kisaragi

A new cast member joined the crew for the movie and his name is Tomokazu Sugita and he plays as the new character George Takadanobaba.
