The Sextupets are Given a New Look for New Osomatsu-san Season

Posted in: Anime News

A new look for the sextuplets of comedy series “Osomatsu-san” is up as the staff for the second season of the work releases a new visual of the new season coming in October. In it the Matsuno brothers have shifted from their regular matching hoodie outfit and have taken on a new jersey outfit look matching their individual styles which they will be wearing for the new season.

“Osomatsu-san” is a long running series that first began as a manga titled, “Osomatsu-kun”, created by Fujio Akatsuka and serialized by Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine from 1962 to 1969. In this series, it took focus onto the childhood adventures and mischief of the Matsuno sextuplets Osomatsu, Karamatsu, Choromatsu, Ichimatsu, Jyushimatsu and Todomatsu.

In 2015 an anime adaptation of the manga series was released by Pierrot; but rather than follow the childhood adventures of the sextuplets, the anime fast forwards to 10 years and tells of their adventures as 20 something NEETS.

It was in April of this year that news of a second season was revealed and prior to this it was revealed that the main cast and staff from the first season would be returning for the same roles in the second season.

For the main cast, they include:

Takahiro Sakurai as Osomatsu
Yūichi Nakamura as Karamatsu
Hiroshi Kamiya as Choromatsu
Jun Fukuyama as Ichimatsu
Daisuke Ono as Jyushimatsu
Miyu Irino as Todomatsu

Returning as the director for the second season is Yoichi Fujita, who also directed the comedy series featuring a new look to classical musicians, “ClassicaLoid” and is once more working with Studio Pierrot. With him is character designer Naoyuki Asano, recognized for his work in the key animation of popular film, “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.” Taking on the role of series script supervisor and scriptwriter once more is Shuu Matsubara, who previously worked on the script for “Mori no Ongakudan.”

In addition to the reveal of new looks for the characters, it has also been announced that on October 6, a commemorative event will be held at Shinjuku Bunka Center in Tokyo and will be having the main cast of the series making their appearance.
