Prior to this reveal, the list of staff for the film was revealed with Yutaka Tsuchida as director, having previously worked as an episode director on three series in the “Pretty Cure” franchise including the 13th series of the franchise, “Mahoutsukai Precure!” Isao Murayama, who also worked on the previous series as the series composer will be working on the screenplay for the film.

Acting as not only the character designer but chief animation director for the film is Kastui Tamegai. With him as animation director is Kazuhiro Ohta, who previously worked on the script and design for the “Wet Summer Days” OAV.

“Kirakira PreCure a la Mode” as stated is the 14th series of the “Pretty Cure” and was first released on February 5, 2017. It tells the tale of a second-year middle schooler named Ichika Usami who dreams of becoming a patisserie due to her love for sweets but struggles in making anything good. One day she encounters the sweet loving lamb fairy Pekorin and discovers the element of Kirakiraru, which lies within sweets and represents the feelings put into them.

However, an evil fairy by the name of Gummy wishes to take the Kirakiraru for himself which would result in the destruction of the sweet. To prevent this from happening, Ichika gains the power of Legendary Patisserie and becomes a Pretty Cure to defeat Gummy. Along with four other Pretty Cures, Ichika gains the double life of being a sweet based magical girl and being a patisserie-in training at the mobile Kira Kira Patisserie shop.

The story for the film tells of how the six members of the Kira Kira Patisserie have travelled to France in order to part of a popular sweets contest. But trouble seems to strike as one of the girls, Ciel Kiraboshi seems to be undergoing a struggle that seems to be affecting her ability to not only make sweets but transform to her Pretty Cure form as well.

With the other five girls, upon entering into the contest venue, they encounter Jean-Pierre Zylberstein, Ciel’s master during her training days in Paris. Upon learning on how Jean-Pierre had created a memorable Mille-feuille for Ciel once, Ichika makes the decision to create it for the contest. But even more trouble seems to pop out of the blue as not only does a monster appear in Paris but city gets turned into sweets.

On another note, it has also been announced that along with the release of the film there will also be a full 3DCG short film titled "Petit Dream Stars! Let’s la Cooking? Showtime!” to be released as well. No details on the short films content has been released but it has been confirmed that the short will be directed by Naoki Miyahara with Mari Kobayashi as the CG Director.
