Synopsis

In the kingdom of Grannzreich, the position of Royal Tutor is one of high regard, a position for which one Heine Wittgenstein has attained under the king’s invitation no less. Both charming yet stern, Heine holds a great intelligence and command for respect even with his lack in stature. Now he holds the responsibility of grooming the our young heirs to the throne. The problem? None of the princes seem to even want for Royal Tutor and with the rumors surrounding them, teaching them may prove difficult but nonetheless, Heine is willing to take the challenge.

The Good

The balance of the plot is one of the main good points to be noted on about the series, and with the art and animation making a distinction between comedy and drama for each episode, it brings a distinct look to the series. The characters of the series are endearing in their own ways and were well rounded enough for the entirety of the series. Each one not only have a more than one dimensional personality, but has their own little stories that was able to slip well with the plot.

The overall plot though not the highly dynamic, is interesting enough to keep the viewer interested. The art though not entirely different from many modern works, is still pleasing to the eye and works well for the series. Both the anime opening and ending theme are catchy enough and somehow works will with the series.

The Bad

In terms of overall plot, it would be counted as somewhat safe in the anime community as with a fictional history and more than he seems type of character, the plot could have taken a completely different turn but it did not, thus it docks a point against it. Another aspect that the series took a safe route with were the characters; while the series did well in making their portrayal enjoyable for the viewer and their development well rounded, there was not much done in making in terms of dynamism.

Conclusion

The series has good art and animation with a well-done direction in plot even if it didn’t take a lot of risks. As stated the distinction between comedy and drama fit well for the series and brought a humorous look for the art direction. The characters while predictable are endearing enough for the viewer to want to know what will happen to them. Overall this is a good comedy series with good work done for it and if you’re looking for a series with some laughs, drama and a different look at royalty, this is the series for you.
