Posted in: Anime News

He may have a pen and have a pineapple—but he has more up his sleeve. It was announced by Avex on Wednesday that the international Internet sensation Pikotaro will have his own anime! The three-minute anime show is slated to premiere this summer.

The upcoming anime show titled Pikotaro no Lullaby Lullaby will feature Pikotaro improvising the story of each of the anime’s episode. The audience will enjoy his storytelling style with him voicing every character of each fairy tale episode. Illustrations that would be used in this production will be done by director Takashi Tanigushi. Production will be done by the animation studio DLE. Pikotaro is labeled as the original creator of the anime while the music is done by his “producer” Daimao Kosaka.

Pikotaro rose to instant Internet stardom for his catchy song PPAP (Pen Pineapple Apple Pen) in 2016. The song was just a huge hit that it has become an Internet meme with a lot of versions and parodies.
