A new anime project is confirmed to make its following year in January and its name is “Violet Evergarden”, a series which is under Kyoto Animation, an animation production company known to have worked on the dramatic film, “Koe no Katachi” in 2016. Along with the revelation of the official release date of the film, there will also be a global distribution for the film as well.

Based on a novel of the same name by author Kana Akatsuki and illustrator Akiko Takase, the anime project was first announced in May 2016 by Kyoto Animation.

Set in a world where a great war between the North and South of a continent of Telenis has ended for four years, this is the story of Violet Evergreen. Once, she was a weapon for battlefield, and in the midst of it she heard words from someone that she holds dear, words that she cannot forget but is yet to know the meaning of them.

Now she starts a new life at a CH Postal Service and upon encountering the “Auto Memories Dolls”, beings who are able to carry people’s thoughts and convert them into words, she is deeply moved by their work. Thus her journey begins as one of these beings, encountering the different emotions of people while she tries to search the meaning behind the words that she had heard.

The staff that are working on this series comprise of the following people:

Director: Taichi Ishidate
Series configuration: Reiko Yoshida
Character Design: Akiko Takase
Acoustic Director: Yofutoshi Tsuruoka
Animation Production: Kyoto Animation
OP Theme Song Artist: TRUE

The only known cast for the work is Yui Ishikawa, the voice of Sayuri Haruno in the short series about handsome males and baking, “BONJOUR Sweet Love Patisserie”, as protagonist Violet Evergreen.

Currently there is an official website for the work where interested parties can keep updated and enjoy the beauty of the PVs and key visuals.

On another note, there will be a pre-screening of the first episode of the work to be held at this year’s AnimeExpo on July 2 in Los Angeles and four countries including Japan will be able to see it.
