Anime Expo is just a few weeks away and to bring more excitement to its anime fans who will be attending the convention, they will be hosting a Dragon Ball panel in which Ryo Horikawa, the original Japanese voice actor of Vegeta will be one of its special guests. This announcement was made official by the Anime Expo staff on Tuesday.
The other guests who will be with him in the panel sessions are the American voice actors of Dragon Ball who compose of Sean Schemmel, Christopher R. Sabat, and Jason Douglas who voiced Goku, Vegeta, and Beerus respectively. They will be having autograph sessions during the convention days as well as a discussion on Dragon Ball’s anime legacy.
About Ryo Horikawa
Ryo Horikawa was born in Osaka, Japan in February 1, 1958. In elementary school, he was a talented child actor. In 1984, his debut as a voice actor was voicing the protagonist from the anime series titled Yume Senshi Wingman. He also did voice acting for Detective Conan, Saint Seiya (as Andomeda Shun), and in Legend of the Galactic Heroes (as Lohengramm). In video games, he also provided the voice for Captain Falcon from the Super Smash Bros. series). His fame in the anime industry began when he voiced the Saiyan Prince Vegeta, Charmy Yamada, Vegito, and Vegeta Jr. in the Dragon Ball anime series.
He is married to voice actress Hitomi Oikawa. He is very good friends with fellow Dragon Ball voice actor Toru Furuya whom he sometimes go to different restaurants together. He was Guest of Honor at the 2012 Anime Expo as well as in Anime Weekend Atlanta in the same year. He was also Guest of Honor in Anime North, a Toronto-based anime convention in 2013.
Awesome Anime Expo Line-Up
This year’s Anime Expo will be one of a kind as a great line-up of guests will be there to attend. Full Metal Alchemist film director Fumihiko Sori will be there as well as lead actor Ryosuke Yamada. Fumihiko Sori (author of Is It Wrong to Pick Girls in a Dungeon?), Hironobu Sakaguchi (creator of Final Fantasy , Akira Himekawa (The Legend of Zelda manga creator), and Yuko Tsukuda (Food Wars! Shoukugeki no Soma manga co-creator) to name a few. Other popular personalities in the Japanese anime, manga, and music industry will also be there to witness and participate in this awesome convention.
