Not only does all eight OVAs of the fantasy comedy series “Mamotte Shugogetten” titled “Denshin Mamotte Shugogetten!” be getting a Blu-ray Box, but there will also be additional booklets, illustrations and items for fans to enjoy as well. The release date for the box is on December 6, 2017, Wednesday and is priced at 16,000 yen.
In the Blu-ray, along with the illustrations and the booklet there will be deleted scenes from the first OVA. The fourth special in the Blu-ray features focuses on a discussion regarding the cast and theme of the series.
As stated, there are illustrations to be found in the box, but not just any images, but unpublished images. There will also be an A3 tapestry which will be prepared as purchase benefits respectively.
Mamotte Shugogetten is a manga series that first started off in monthly magazine Shōnen GanGan from 1997 to 2000 and a creation of Minene Sakurano. The manga series ran for a total of 11 volumes in the Square Enix Edition and 10 in the Mag Garden Edition until it ended in April of 2000.
October 1998 was when an animated series was made on the series and spanned for a total of 22 episodes, ending on April 1999. It was June 23, 2000 that the eight OVAs were created and later on in March 20002 that another manga series was created and ran for a of six volumes until March 2005.
The story of the series tells of a 14-year-old boy named Tasuke Shichiri and how his life changes upon receiving a gift from his father, Tarousuke who travels in China. His gift, the shitenrin, a ring that is a way to look upon the moon goddess named Shaolin, but only the pure of heart may be able to gaze into the ring and do so.
The main cast for the series comprise of the following people starting with Takada, Yumi as the spirit once trapped in a wand artefact Keikounitten, Ruuan. Then Kouda, Mariko as the moon spirit with little knowledge of the human world, Shugogetten, Shaorin. The main character of the story Shichiri, Tasuke is played by Sakaguchi, Daisuke.
