Although the anime series has ended and the movie had successful screenings in theaters around the world, the Sword Art Online franchise continues to grow in immense hype. While you are still waiting for what’s in store soon, here’s something that you might find interesting.
Shingo Adachi is the character designer for Sword Art Online as well in other series like Galilei Donna and Wagnaria!!. This now popular character designer for a massively popular franchise is now collaborating with a Japanese children’s clothing brand named Betty. In the first part of this collaboration project, Adachi has illustrated some cute girls wearing Betty’s products. With the cute art and chic clothes, just would ignore these illustrations?
Betty debuted in the Japanese market in 2003 targeting junior high school and elementary school students with their unique pop-culture-inspired clothing. The characters that Adachi illustrated are on display in the newly opened Betty’s near store in Harajuku, Tokyo.
Harajuku is a haven for Japanese and even international tourists for it is the only destination to find fashion brand flagship stores like Uniqlo, Topshop, Forever 21, Gap Inc, and H & M. Harajuku is also the only place where you can freely wear or even see people wear Japanese street fashion, Lolita fashion, and so on. It’s a fashion designer and lover’s paradise!
This isn’t the only time when Japanese clothing companies do collaborations with artists working in the anime and manga industry. In 2015, fans of the Evangelion franchise were surprised to know that Japan is selling onesies based from the well-loved series. This also followed with accessories and jeans all targeted for the children’s market.
So if you really want your kids to get into some cute fashion, then head on down to Harajuku and go to the Betty store. You might be able to see these illustrations by Adachi in real life as well.
