‘Kingdom Hearts III’ and ‘Final Fantasy VII’ Remake Releases Delayed, To be Launched in the Next Three Years

Posted in: Anime News

It seems that fans of the Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy fandoms might have to do a little bit of waiting. Yosuke Matsuda, CEO of Square Enix announced at the company’s financial results briefing session that their current game projects Kingdom Hearts III as well as the remake of the epic Final Fantasy VII will be launched in the next three years.

To refresh your memory, the Kingdom Hearts III game was announced in 2013 while the Final Fantasy VII game remake was announced in 2015. Fans are hyped about these announcements and they had high hopes and expectations that the games will be released the soonest. Last February, Square Enix teased fans on the official Twitter accounts of the games with a couple of screenshots to let them know what to expect upon its releases.

The PlayStation 4 remake for Final Fantasy VII is going to be something to look forward to for Tetsuya Nomura returns to direct the game’s creation. During the development of the original game, he was character designer. Joining with him in this project is Kazushige Nojima who will be returning as well to write the game’s scenario.

Kingdom Hearts III has been a very long wait most especially for its large fanbase. The game is confirmed to be released in both Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. The game will be developed using Unreal Engine4 and Square Enix will be assisted by Epic Games in this project. The game confirms the return of the Olympus Coliseum world as well as new worlds like Big Hero 6 and Tangled.

Japanese singer and songwriter Hikaru Utada will be singing the new theme song for Kingdom Hearts III. His father Teruzane Utada took back on what he said on Twitter in October 2013 that he will be working together with his daughter in composing the new theme song and clarified later that the collaboration with her is still undecided.

Utada Hikaru’s popularity grew even more when she sang the song “Simple and Clean” for the first Kingdom Hearts game as well “Sanctuary” for Kingdom Hearts II. After eight years, she finally made a comeback by releasing a new album Fantôme which was released last September 2016.

Although the releases of both games still need a lot of patience, let’s hope that Kingdom Hearts III and the Final Fantasy VII remake will be games that are worth the wait for its massive game followers.
