See a new portrayal of the unique characters that are cafe maids as Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Carat July issue reveals that the comedy manga titled “Blend S” will be gaining an anime adaptation by the animation studio A-1 Pictures.

A-1 Pictures is a Japanese animation studio that was founded by ex-Sunrise producer Mikihiro Iwata in 2005. To be specific, the studio was established by SMEJ’s animation production division, Aniplex, on May 9, 2005, to animate its anime series and productions.

The first series that the studio is noted to have produced is the baseball series featuring the nervous pitcher Ren Mihashi, “Ōkiku Furikabutte” a.k.a “Big Windup!”

The studio is known to have worked on a variety of other works including “B-Project: Kodou*Ambitious” and most recently “Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend Flat.” In 2007, the studio was able to garner an international presence by having their own panel at the international convention, Anime Expo 2007 (AX 2007) which was held in Long Beach, California.

“Blend S” on the other hand, is a four-panel comic manga series created by Miyuki Nakayama. The comedy series was first published in October 2013 in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Caret magazine as a guest series. It was Nakayama that made the manga into a regular series in 2014.

Currently the comedy manga has three volumes, the third compiled book volume having been released on January 27 by Houbunsha. It is confirmed that the anime adaptation will be making its debut around October of this year.

The story of the series tells of a young girl named Maika and how she manages to get a job as a waitress at a café. Like with many other cafes there is a theme to be followed by the workers, but this café does things a little differently.

Because in this café, each waitress are given a certain attribute to play as, so one maid could be acting as the “tsundere” type, while another plays as the “little sister” type. For Maika, she gets assigned the role of the “Do S” (extreme sadist) waitress. Now she has to go through the trouble of learning her way around the café but also having to adopt a dominant and aggressive personality which she does not have.
