This year at the Japan Expo held in France, a special feline guest will their appearance and their name is Chi. Chi is a grey and white striped kitten from the series titled “Chi’s Sweet Home” and she will be appearing as an official guest at the Expo from the 6th to the 9th of the event.
Chi’s Sweet Home is a comedy series by Kanata Konami and first began as a 2004 manga series in the manga magazine Weekly Morning. It was in 2016 that an anime adaptation of the series was made, to be specific it was and is a 3D CG animation style anime.
It tells the story of a grey and white striped kitten named Chi and her life with a young boy named Youhei and his mother. Her story begins with her enjoying a walk outside with her family and ending up wandering away from her mother and siblings.
While she was wandering lost and alone, she gets picked up a young boy named Youhei and is taken in with him and his mother. The problem however, is that the apartment complex that they live in does not allow pets.
Still the family decide to keep her while trying to find her a new home; and while all this happens and the little kitten gets housebroken, she somehow ends up responding to the word Chi, and it becomes her name.
The Japan Expo is a 4-day event celebrating both Japan and its culture. For this year, the event will be taking place from July 6 to 9 and will be taking place at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center. News on the feline guest was revealed at the press conference for the Expo on May 24 at the National Art Center located in Tokyo.
For her time at the Expo, Chi will be having a special booth where she will be informing visitors on the contemporary culture of Japan along with the Yuru characters participating from Japan. Not only that, there will also be illustrations of Chi by Konami to be gifted to visitors at the venue as well.
At the time of the event, the creator Kanata even relayed a comment, stating “Chi seems to be planning to entertain you in Paris so please watch her warmly.”
