‘Fairy Tail’ Manga to End in Ten Chapters

Posted in: Anime News

They say all good things come to a fulfilling end—and Fairy Tail is absolutely no exception to this.

It was revealed on Wednesday in the Weekly Shonen Jump’s 25th issue that Hiro Mashima’s best-selling manga series Fairy Tail will end with only ten chapters left. In Volume 61 of the Fairy Tail manga it was reveal that the series will still have two more volumes to be published making the entire series in around 63 volumes. Mashima is also working on a new series and is quite excited to create a new manga series with new characters and set in another different world.

There have been small announcements before that the manga is now its near conclusion. Last February, the official website of the Fairy Tail film Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry revealed that the manga is now on its final arc. Aside from this, the website also announced that the manga has sold over more than 60 million copies worldwide!

Although the series is now ending, Mashima stated in his official Twitter account that it might not be the end of the franchise. He still has a lot of plans and he is looking forward to put them into motion soon.

The Fairy Tail manga was first launched in 2006 and its massive popularity paved way for the franchise to branch out in an anime series, a spinoff manga, and original video animation (OVA) projects. The franchise has two animated movies titled Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess (2012) and Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry which premiered in Japan last May and was ranked #10 at the box office.

Just to give you a little synopsis on the series, it centered on epic adventures of Fairy Tail, one of the world’s most renowned mage guild. The story stars when Lucy Heartfilia, a seventeen-year-old wizard made a decision to run away from home to join Fairy Tail. Her interested to join the guild was due to Natsu Dragneel who possesses dragon-like abilities.

Natsu is on a mission to find his foster father who went missing. He then forms a team that composed of Lucy and flying cat-like companion Happy. He was then joined by Erza Scarlet the armored wizard and Gray Fullbuster the ice wizard.

We hope that these last ten chapters would be good ones and we are looking forward to what’s in store with this epic franchise.
