May 20 Brings Premier of "Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry" to be Hosted by Anime Central

Fans of the fantasy action series “Fairy Tail” located in Northern America, mark your calendars for May 20 as FUNimation Entertainment has announced that the North American premier of the “Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry” film will be hosted on Anime Central and as an additional to the film being in Japanses with English subtitles, all those who will attend the screening will also be receiving a poster.

For those who wish to attend the screening, Anime Central will be hosting at the Hyatt O’Hare and the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center located in Rosemont, Illinois from May 19-21

“Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry” is the 2nd film of the franchise and was first released in Japan on May 6. Tatsuma Minamikawa, the unit director of the “Sora no Otoshimono Final: Eternal My Master” film worked as the director for this film. The script writer who worked in this film is Shoji Yonemura, the script writer for the first series of the ever popular “Pokemon” and the long running “One Piece.”

Yuuko Yamada, the key animator of the “Heaven’s Lost Property the Movie: The Angeloid of Clockwork” and “Inazuma Eleven GO: Kyūkyoku no Kizuna Griffon” is the chracter designer and chief animation director for the film.

The overall story for this film follows the adventure of the Fairy Tail wizards as tey are tasked with the retrieval of what is known as the Dragon Cry, a mystical staff capable of great destruction and located within the Stella Kingdom. During their retrieval mission however things seem to take a turn as for an unknown reason, Natsu’s dragon slayer instincts begin to awaken and he undergoes a dangerous transformation.

The film was a hit, on it’s first weekend it ranked at number 10 and has earned a total of 53,888,700 yen (about US$474,848).

On another note, FUNimation has also announced that there will be details soon to be revealed in regards to the showing of the film in North America. So far what is known is that the film will be open in at least 16 countries in May. These countries include, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, nine countries in Central America and South America, Thailand, France, and last but not least the United States.
