Gymnastics is an art that you do not often in the anime community, especially when it is shown in a performance for circus. Meet the world famous circus known as Kaleido Stage, recgonized for its fantastical performances and memorable performers, it is admired by many. One of these admirers is a girl named Sora, mesmerized by a performance she saw as a young child she entered into the world of acrobatics into order to become a part of Kaleido Stage. This the story of her journey to achiveing her dream of becoming a star performer with a bit of fantasy mixed in.

13. Sugar Sugar Rune

The line “steal your heart away” is something that has been heard in countless love stories, said by flirtatious characters to charm either the female character or groupies that admire the male. For this tale, this line takes a more magical twist. In the magical realm of this story, the next Queen is chosen by how many “hearts” the canidates are able to gather in the human realm. These “hearts” are actually jewels shaped as hearts that appear above a person’s chest, indicating their level of affection. They can only be seen be the witches and thus can be captured by them in their wand.

Princesses, elegant figures of royalty with beauty and grace. Many little girls want to be one and in this world that is no different. But unlike reality wherein you ned to be born into royalty or be married to one in order to become a princess, in this world, even a simply country girl has the chance to become a princess. Studying in the prestigous academy for princesses Yucie faces a number of struggles in order to reach her dreams through the search of the pieces of a magical artifact.

When it comes to kids becoming heroes in th anime community, there are many series to count, such as “Cardcaptor Sakura” to name one. Whether it be magical girls, withces, superheroes or even a supernatural beast, it the young ones take stage. Each of these heroes turn into something unique and times silly. But for this story, the characters turn into none of the stated beings; instead, they turn into gods/goddesses.

Ever hear of GTO? You know, the story of the former gang member turned teacher who went out of his way to help troubled youths and in turn touched the audience even though he came out as an idiot and a pervert for the most part? Well here’s an anime that takes the concept of an unconventional teacher that knows how to fight and touches the hearts of their students and completely twists it around adds a little more flare.

This time, we have a female teacher, with a red track suit, hair tied into pigtails and round glasses to finish the look, she seems as average as can be. But behind this lacklustre looking teacher hides a figure far more frightening, for this teacher, Yamaguchi Kumiko, is none other than the heir to one of the most powerful yakuza family around. So, try as her students might to scare her or drive her away, she’ll go as far as knocking their heads to get them straight.

There’s a fair share of thieves to know in the anime community, with their quirky personalitties and creativity trciks, each of these characters have their own signature that makes them memorable.You have Lupin with his business cards and escapist tricks and there is Magic Kaito with his illusions and magic tricks. But have you ever heard of a thief who not only has an impressive slight of hand but a bird that can turn into a weapon?

Well, meet Jing, a bandit, and not just any bandit, he’s the king of bandits. Quick thinking as any thief should be, with an intuition for people, Jing has both the smarts and the skills to back his title. Don’t let his youthful fool you, because before you even know it, you might be missing someting.

8. Cheeky Angel

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be the opposite gender? For Megumi, this is question that was involuntarily answered for him. At nine years old Megumi was a rough and tough kind of boy who often got into fights. One day he encounters a book and finds a genie within. He wishes to become the strongest of men but instead the genie turns him into the prettiest of girls. Angered, Megumi throws away the book in mistake, years pass and Megumi continues to search for a way to turn back into a male while hiding the truth.

7. World Destruction: Sekai Bokumetsu no Rokunin

In a world where anthropomorphic beings known as Ferals rule and the humans are the second class beings, a rebellion has risen. WIth a powerful artifact in their hand, an organization known as the “World Annihilation Front” has risen with the goal to destroy the world and release it from the clutches of the Ferals. Placed in the center of this conflict is a boy named Kyrie, who holds a mysterious but destructive ability that may hold a relation to the artifact.

6. Seikoku no Dragonar

How amazing would it be to have a dragon as a partner/friend? Well in this world you can, granted if you hold the mark known as a “Star Brand” that is. In the school known as the Ansarivan Dragonar Academy, students are trained to ride and train dragons. What makes this story so different from other beast taming anime? Well that answer lies in the protagonist known as Ash Blake.

For while the other students mayhave dragons that could either fly high in the sy or run fast on the ground, what Ash has gained is a dragon partner that is completely unexpected. His dragon is in fact in the form of a human girl.

5. Luck and Logic

When it comes to stories of two conflicting forces battling one another and an organization made for the protection of the people, usually the main character is someone who is completely new and enters into the organization learning the ropes while the pros take the stage. Not for this story; not only is the protagonist experienced in the field, but he is a veteran as well.

Jump into a story that tells of a matter known as “logic” exists. With the use of a special card, regular people have the ability to merge with Godesses of another world and become warriors to fight against those who are corrupted.

4. Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple

Here’s a familiar formula that many anime fans may know, a regualr joe becomes stronger in order to protect the ones he cares about. In the anime community, there are hundreds of characters that embody this character, for example, Tsunoyoshi Sawada of “Katekyo Hitman Reborn.” Each of these characters developed or trained in a certain area and in turn they become stronger and get recognized for this.

The thing is though, these characters had only one or may two specialties, well, what about having five specialties all at once? In order to have a chance against a bully who challenged him, Kenichi unwittingly signs up for training at a dojo with five masters of different arts. Now he faces challenges from different opponents all the while developing five styles from a grueling and unforgiving training.

3. Moyashimon

There are thousands of characters that have special abilities in the anime community. When it comes to things related to sight, there are those that can see the future, spirits, or other supernatural things such as auras. Well what about seeing something so small that it is invisible to the naked eye but is found all around us? Here is a character that can see the strangest thing of all, bacteria.

Meet Tadayasu, a boy who has the ability to see the bacteria that surrounds us in everything. The thing is though, what he sees are not ittle specks of matter moving about, but rather tiny little beings that float around and are able to take, each group having their own unique design to identify them.

2. Elemental Gelade

To enter into a tale is to enter into an adventure, especially one that involves mystical beings and two conflicting sides. In this world there exists beings known as Edel Raids, ysterious females that hold gems bonded to their body and have the ability to ‘react’ with a human being and form into a weapon for them.

Here we have a boy named Kou who discovers an extremely rare Edel Raid called Ren and together they travel to the mythical land known as Edel Garden and along with their companions they bring a story of a conflict between the humans and Edel Raids being percieved as nothing more than tools. Mixed into this is the tale betwen Kou and Ren who see each other more than as Human and Edel Raid and form a relationship of love and trust.

Ever wondered what it would be like to be able to look into another world? Well this anime answers this question with the world of Dennou Coil where technology has advanced to a point where internet-connected augmented reality eyeglasses and visors exist. More than seeing into a technological side to the world, this is a tale of mystery that involves missing children and what is called as the “other side” of reality.

A tale of technology and mystery mixed, this is an anime not known by many but holds the elements of a story that could be more if explored in a wider scope.
