Calling all fans for dramas with baseball in it for a new live-action adaptation is up for production, and it is based on the manga entitled “Chotto Mate Yakyūbu – Kenritsu Shingen Kōkō Yakyūbu no Nichijō” a.k.a. “Wait a Second Baseball Club: Shingen Prefectural High School Baseball Club’s Everyday Life.”
Created by Takane Yukue, creator for the series “T-sensei”, the series is a comedic tale that tells the story of three first year students and baseball players; the trio are, the cheerful Ōmori, the foodie Akimoto, and the straight-arrow Miyata.
They play for the most average high school baseball team in Japan, the Shingen Prefectural High School team, a team that has no medals nor any grand losses to speak of. The story follows the lives of this trio as they try to find the balance between handling their studies and doing baseball.
The series was first published in April 2015 in the gogo Bunch and was followed by a publication of the first compiled book volume in August by Shinchosa. It was with a cover image on the Retailer Rakuten’s listings for the May issue in Shinchosha’s gogo Bunch magazine that the confirmation of the live action being under production was confirmed.
Along with this reveal was a confirmation that Kenta Suuga, the actor behind the character Juunosuke Furuyuki, in the live action adaptation film “Always Sunset on Third Street”, a dramatic slice of life set in 1958. Currently there is no other details given in regards to the staff or cast to be part of the production, expected release nor any visuals were released.
On other news, Yukue’s other work “T-sensei” a comedic tale of a young male kindergarten teacher is confirmed to have inspired an anime adaptation which will be premiering on this month’s Production I.G ’s “Tate Anime” (Vertical Anime) smartphone app.
