‘Pokemon’ Power Banks Recalled Due to Overheat and Smoke

The Pokemon Company on Thursday has called for a voluntary recall on their Pokemon Pikachu and Poke Ball mobile batteries (power banks) due reports of the products emitting smoke and overheating. These are one of the exclusive products being sold in The Pokemon Center in Japan as well as its other official and affiliated stores.

The Pokemon-themed RAVPower power banks each have 10050mAh batteries manufactured by a company named Nearby Direct. According to the official statement, the reason for the products’ overheating and smoke issues is because of “defective manufacturing processes”. They are urging the public who bought the power banks to be return them to the official retailers for a full refund. The power banks were a manufactured and sold from September 16 to February 13 at a price of 2,808 yen each.
