This year, the adventure and slice of life light novel series that is “Kino no Tabi – The Beautiful World” a.k.a. “Kino’s Journey” by Keiichi Sigsawa steps into the anime scene once more with a new television anime project. Playing as the protagonist Kino is voice actress and singer, Aoi Yuuki, recognized for her various performances and roles including Madoka Kaname in “Puella Magi Madoka Magica” and Tsuyu Asui in “My Hero Academia.” Along with her is the voice behind Tadashi Yamaguchi in “Haikyuu!” and Tatsumi in “Akame ga KILL!” Souma Saito as Hermes.

First published in 2000 in the ASCII Media Work’s Dengeki HP the novel tells the story of the young adventurer Kino, who travels around on a talking motorcycle named Hermes. With each location that they visit for only three days, they explore the people and their cultures throughout their adventures.
Prior to this new project the series received a 13-episode anime adaptation in 2003 as well as two movies in 2005 and 2007. In 2006-2011, Sigsawa created a spinoff novel series depicting Kino as a high school girl entitled “Gakuen Kino” and in turn, a manga series was created from it in 2010 in Dengeki G’s Festival Comic.

In regards to the creator himself, Sigsawa, other than creating “Kino’s Journey” is also recognized to have created the adventure manga “Allison”, a tale of a single continent divided in two and riddle with war; and its sequel, “Lilia and Treize” telling the adventures of the two characters named from the title.
