Nodame Cantabille
Perfectionist Shinichi Chiaki is a young man who comes from a distinguished family and is a first class musician who dreams to play amongst the elite in Europe. However, due to his fear of flight, this dream is not to be so and he is grounded in Japan. One day during his fourth year at Japan’s top music academy he encounters the unkempt and directionless girl that is Megumi Noda a.k.a. “Nodame” and finds that while she may come off as such, her ability on the piano is awe inspiring. Still Chiaki finds himself undaunted as he discovers that not only is the strange girl his neighbour but she had inexplicably fallen in love with him.
Sakamichi no Apollon (Kids on the Slope)
Here is a tale that immerses one into the diverse music that is jazz as well as a story of a friendship between a pianist and a drummer. For introvert pianist Kaoru Nishimi who just arrives at Kyushu for his first year at high school, he has given up hope on getting close to anyone with how much he has moved around since childhood. This all changes when he encounters the delinquent drummer that is Sentarou Kawabuchi on the roof and through him, Kaoru is introduced to the world of Jazz.
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (Your Lie in April)
As a child, prodigious pianist Kousei Arima was considered to be a rising star; however, due to the death of his mother, Saki Arima, he found himself into a downward spiral that in turn, made him unable to hear the sound of his own piano. Two years later and now a high school student, he still hears no sound from the piano and left the music world, finding the world a colourless place as he goes through his days with his friends. But one day he comes across a blonde girl playing music in the park with children and everything begins to for Kousei’s view of music.
