Inuyasha is Getting a Stage Play!

Posted in: Anime News

Inuyasha is one of the most popular manga and anime series in its time. Get ready to bring back the nostalgia as this favorite series is getting a stage play. This was announced in the 11th issues of Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine on Wednesday.

Golden Bomber’s Yutaka Kyan (who also played a part in the Fushigi Yugi stage play) will be playing the role as Inuyasha. The last stage play made by this well-loved series was back in April-May 2000 in theaters in Japan. The second run happened in April-May 2001 at Akasaka ACT Theater in Tokyo.

The Inyuasha anime is based from the manga series of the same name created by Rumiko Takahashi in 1996. The last chapter of the manga ended in 2008 and the entire series was compiled in a total of 58 volumes.

Here’s a description of the series as described by Viz Media:

After falling into an old well and into ancient Japan, Kagome discovers that her destiny is linked to the dog-like half demon called Inuyasha! As Kagome learns more about her connection to the past and to Inuyasha, she comes into conflict with the terrible demons that are drawn to the Shikon Jewel, including Inuyasha’s own half brother, Sesshomaru. Finding the shards of the Shikon Jewel is going to require powerful magic, strange allies, and a strong heart. Kagome’s got plenty of heart, but she’s going to need Inuyasha’s help for the rest of it, and he may not be so willing to lend a hand!
