Transformers is one of the popular franchises in the world. Aside from its various line-up of toys, shows, and movies under its name, Takara Tomy and Japan’s au mobile phone company wanted to take it to the next level— by creating Transformers phones!

A crowdfunding campaign was created to gather funds for the creation of these cell phones that change into Transformers figures. In just two days since the crowdfunding page was made, it had reached its of 1,000,000-yen goal. To date, it has gathered a total of 10,513,800 from its 1,171 supporers. The crowdfunding campaign is still open for 55 days.

Just to make it clear, these are not the standard cell phones. The “au x Transformers” units will be Bluetooth devices that you can pair with your Android or iOS smartphones. Although these phones cannot take or receives calls or go to the Internet, the phones’ LED lights respond whenever they receive signals from their paired device.

The units available for this product line-up are Infobar Megatron (Building), Infobar Optimus Prime (Nishikigoi), and Infobar Bumblebee (Ichimatsu). They can hold small cellphones when they are in robot mode and each comes in its own stand.
