Crunchyroll simulcasts ‘BanG Dream!’ anime

Online streaming service Crunchyroll added on Monday, January 23, the BanG Dream! anime television series in its simulcast line-up.

The anime’s first episode, premiered in Tokyo MX on January 21, is currently available. Crunchyroll will stream the upcoming episodes at 9:00 a.m. EST on Saturdays as it air in Japan. The service will be available in North America, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Scandinavia, Turkey, and Latin America.

Apart from Crunchyroll, BanG Dream! has also been simulcasted by Southeast Asian channel Animax Asia.

Story Synopsis (Crunchyroll)

“When she was a child, Kasumi Toyama felt a heart-pounding thrill every time she gazed at the stars, and she’s been looking without success for something that could inspire the same feeling ever since. One day, she comes across a star-shaped guitar in a rundown pawnshop and, for the first time, discovers the thrill she’s been searching for. Kasumi becomes determined to form an all-girl band, and her search leads her to four like-minded souls: Saya, Arisa, Rimi, and Tae. Does this band have what it takes to make their dreams of stardom come true?”

BanG Dream! anime is directed by Atsushi Ootsuki at studios Issen and Xebec. It has also been licensed by Sentai Filmworks in North America for digital and home video releases.
