1,500 Fans Celebrate "Girls und Panzer" Kay's Birthday Three Days Early

January 14 brings in an early birthday celebration for “Girls und Panzer” character Kay by fans at the parking lot of the Ibaraki Prefecture Credit Union located in the northern Isohama are of Ōarai. Organized by the seafood processing and sales shop Iiokaya Fisheries, the event featured cake and visitors singing a “Happy Birthday” song for the character.

In actuality, the Saunders Girls High School’s Sensha-Dō team commander’s birthday was noted to be on January 17, Tuesday but it didn’t stop fans as evidenced with the number of visitors totalling to over 1,500.

In addition to the cake and song, a performance was also held by the alumni group Kiyomitsu Band from Ōarai High School Marching Band. Joining the celebration was Akihisa Okada of the Ibaraki Mito HollyHock soccer team, signing autographs for fans while they could also take pictures with the team mascot Holly.

Overall the event was an enjoyment to many as expressed by Ryū Matsumoto, head of Iiokaya Fisheries’ sales department who hopes to think of a new and fun project for the Kay’s birthday next year.
