The original video animation (OVA) adaptation of Yunosuke Yoshinaga’s Broken Blade (Break Blade) manga has been cancelled, Comic Meteor Japan announced on Wednesday, December 28.
The announcement said that the decision to cancel the OVA has been made in consultation with the author.
“We sincerely apologize to all the fans who have been looking forward to it. We look forward to your continued support,” the announcement, originally written in Japanese, further read.
The OVA’s story was supposed to be centered around the past of the Golem Delphine and how it was created.
Broken Blade manga previously inspired a six 50-minutes film series that was directed by Tetsuro Amino. It originally aired in Japan from 2010 to 2011.
In October 2011, Senatai Filmworks announced that it has acquired the license for the film series.
Synopsis of the film series as described by Sentai Filmworks:
“In Cruzon, children are born with the ability to control quartz. This power allows them to levitate simple objects—or control enormous and complexdmobile battle suits called Golems. But when an ancient Golem is discovered during the height of a brutal war, a Young King and his beautiful queen turn to Rygart Arrow. Though an ‘un-sorcerer,’ Rygart can miraculously pilot this ancient and powerful weapon. But in war, school friends can turn into bitter enemies and allies have suspicious motives.”
