The popular short telling the story of a young girl assigned to be a dentist to a dragon otherwise known as “Dragon Dentist” gains a two-part special anime adaptation to be aired around a week apart with the first part of the special airing on February 18, 2017, at 8 a.m. and the second part to be aired on February 25 at the same time.
Additional to the reveal of release dates, there has also been a confirmation for the voice behind the protagonist Nonoko, the Dragon Dentist herself, to be played by none other than Fumika Shimizu.
For those who do not know Shimizu is recognized mainly for her role as Yuki Jojima in the Japanese drama “Kamen Rider: Fourze”. Having no previous experience in voice acting her role as Nonoko shall be her debut in the voice acting world of anime. When asked on how she felt on taking such a role she had responded by saying that it was “60% anticipation and 40%” and yet she still looked forward to bringing her character life and bringing the audience a new take on the story.
Alongside with Shimizu, are other more recognizable voice actors to play for the rest of the main cast. Playing a character known as “Bell” is the voice behind “Ao no Exorcist’s” a.k.a “Blue Exorcist’s” protagonist, Rin Okumura.
The voice behind the popular bounty hunter Spike Spiegel of “Cowboy Bepop” Kochi Yamadera is cast to play Godo.
Cast to play as the voice female main character Shibana is voice actress, singer, radio personality, and lyricist, Megumi Hayashibara, recognized as the voice of one of the main antagonists of popular anime “Pokemon”, Jesse a.k.a Musashi.
More than the cast for the main characters however there has been an additional announcement made for another character known as the antagonist of the show, Salvatore Blanco to be played by none other than theatre director, actor, novelist, and screenwriter, best known for his role in this year’s film “Shin Godzilla”.
