'Sailor Moon R' Movie to Open in Over 300 US Theaters!

Moonies, it’s time to mark your calendars!

A recent announcement by Viz Media has confirmed that the Sailor Moon movie titled Sailor Moon R Movie: Promise of the Rose will be screen to over 300 theaters in the U.S. on January 20.

Eleven Arts has released the list of showtimes and theater venues. You can check it out here to get your early tickets.

A premiere screening event will happen on January 13 at Ace Hotel’s The Theater in Los Angeles which will include a Q and A panel with the Sailor Moon English language cast and staff. The anime short titled Make-Up! Sailor Senshi (Make Up! Sailor Guardians) will also be screen in the event in English-dubbed and Japanese-dubbed (with English subtitles). Freebies will also be given away to fans on the screendates until supplies last.

Here’s a synopsis of the film as described by Viz:

Long before Mamoru found his destiny with Usagi, he gave a single rose in thanks to a lonely boy who helped him recover from the crash that claimed his parents. This long-forgotten friend, Fiore, has been searching the galaxy for a flower worthy of that sweet gesture long ago. The mysterious flower he finds is beautiful, but has a dark side- it has the power to take over planets. To make matters worse, the strange plant is tied to an ominous new asteroid near Earth! Faced with an enemy blooming out of control, It’s up to Sailor Moon and the Sailor Guardians to band together, stop the impending destruction and save Mamoru!
