"Renai Boukun" a Parody of "Death Note" gets Spotted for an Anime in Spring 2017

Posted in: Anime News

In the anime world, “Death Note” is considered as a piece of work that has left its mark on fans and the thriller genre of anime. With 37 episodes, two specials, and around four live action films under its belt, “Death Note” is a memorable anime for its thrills, mystery and supernatural element.

But here is a manga that takes a concept from the dark thriller of Death and completely turns it on its head. As any fan or viewer of “Death Note” would know, the item named from the title is a notebook that when one writes a name in it, dies after a certain amount of time and is owned by “Shinigami” a.k.a creatures of death or in this case the protagonist Light Yagami.

Now here comes “Renai Boukun” a.k.a “The Very Lovely Tyrant of Love”; in this story you have what is known as the “Kiss Note” a powerful artefact owned by cupids whose job is to create couples. By simply writing two names together in this item the two instantly fall in love when they kiss no matter the circumstances. One day a cupid named Guri accidentally writes down the name of regular high school student Aino Seiji and unless he kisses someone and has their name signed in her Kiss Note, Guri will die. In her desperation Guri convinces Aino to kiss his school crush Hiyama Akane, however is not as she seems.

A comedy series created by Megane Mihoshi, the series was first serialized in 2012 and has garnered over ten volumes. Now a special announcement has been revealed from the series’ 9th volume during the summer of plans for an anime adaptation for the following year. According to a note from the 10th volume released on December 9th in Japan, Kumamiko’s EMT Squared is to be in charge of production and the release shall be slated for spring.
