Three Japanese Animated Films Nominated for the Annual Annie Awards

On Monday, the International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood announced the following Japanese Animated Films that are nominated in the prestigious 44th Annual Annie Awards for Best Animated Feature.

The movies are Michael Dudok de Wit and Studio Ghibli’s The Red Turtle, Production I.G.‘s Miss Hokusai, and Makoto Shinkai’s top grossing animated film to date, Kimi no Na wa .

Aside from the mentioned category, one of these movies were also nominated in other categories as well. The Red Turtle was nominated for Outstanding Achievement, Animated Effects in an Animated Production, writer Pascale Ferran for Outstanding Achievement, Writing in an Animated Feature Production, and composer Laurent Perez del Mar for Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production.

Japanese Animation Director Mamoru Oshii will be given the Winsor McCay Award for his contributions throughout his career in animation.
