Anime Film 'Miss Hokusai' Earns Big in the US

As of November 10, Production I.G.’s animated feature film Miss Hokusai earns a total of $222,670 USD. Last October 30, it was able to get a total of $176,008 USD in North America alone.

Officially distributed for the US and Canada by GKids, the Miss Hokusai film was able win a couple of awards last year like the Jury Award in the Official Feature Film Competition (39th Annecy International Film Festival), the Satoshi Kon Award for best animated film, and the Sequences Award for best Asian feature film to name a few.

Based on Hinako Sigiura’s historical manga Sarusuberi, the movie tells the story of Katsushika Oi works in the shadow of her father Hokusai, an ukiyo-e painter and printmaker during the Edo Period.
