The Japanese superhero anime series My Hero Academia (Boku no Hīrō Akademia) ranked seventh in New York Times’ Best International Show in 2016. “In the self-aware category of Japanese anime, this shrewdly written and dynamically drawn series posits a world in which 80 percent of humanity has developed some sort of special powers (not all of them super, and not all used for good).

A new anime on theme of people and their jobs comes to the screen on April of 2017 by anime studio P.A. Works. Entitled as “Sakura Quest” the anime depicts the story of a tourism bureau set in a small provincial town reviving it’s “micro-nation” tourism program, something that originated from a nation during Japan’s bubble economy period, a period in which over 200 micro-nations were produced.

ЯeaL (a four-member all-girls band) have confirmed to sing the anime opening song ("Kagero) while RIZE will perform the ending theme song ("Silver").

The ongoing manga series The Seven Deadly Sins by Nakaba Suzuki will be on hiatus to January 18. The announcement was released Wednesday on the first 2017 issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine. The reason for the hiatus is due to the mangaka being confined in the hospital after undergoing a medical procedure.

It's official: As of Sunday, the anime film Kimi no Na wa earns a total of 19,957,000,000 yen in box office ticket sales surpassing the Studio Ghibli anime film classic Howl's Moving Castle. The movie has been showing for a total of 101 days since its premiere in Japan.
