The Asran Mercenary Air Force is not the kind of military life one usually enters willingly. Once you're in, there are only three ways out: serve three years (in as dangerous a place as Asran, that's a near-miracle), earn $1,500,000 (a sum almost impossible to attain), or desert (and face the dreaded consequences if you get caught).

The main character, Kazama Shin, had been training to become a pilot of Yamato Aviation, with his friend, Kanzaki Satoru, who had been a friend since they had been in the orphan's house. Though he thought of Kanzaki as a best friend, but by Kanzaki's conspiracy he had been sent to the mercenary unit "Area 88" in Asran of the Middle East.

In 2054, mankind spontaneously fell into the belligerence for an innumerable alien which raided suddenly. The United Nations government reorganized the army to oppose them and to defend the earth, and named the previous combat from it as 'The first encounter action'.

Those incompetent aliens are still plotting to conquer the Earth! The only obstacle in their path - the giant, feminine robot ARIEL!

To save the Earth from alien invaders and their giant monsters, Dr. Kishida does what any other red-blooded mad scientist would do: he builds a giant robot - ARIEL - the ultimate feminine fighting robot!
