What is it with 2019 and remakes/comebacks of those nostalgic anime we all loved as kids. There is the Netflix remake of Saint Seiya, then a new movie for the decade-old Code Geass series, and of course the much talked-about remake of beloved shoujo anime Fruits Basket.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection has amassed impressive box-office numbers in Japan, a testament to its popularity despite being released a decade ago. The series is also popular internationally as well, as the film is currently being shown in select theaters in US and Canada, with screenings in other countries being announced as well.

A new character video trailer for the highly anticipated video game Samurai Shodown (Samurai Spirits) was uploaded by SNK on Thursday featuring the playable character Shiki. This new game of the popular video game franchise is created using Unreal Engine 4 and is set between the events of the original game and Samurai Shodown V.

It may have been two years since the comedy isekai anime KonoSuba (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo.or “A blessing to this wonderful world.") ended, but fans are still clamoring for more content (especially for a season 3).

The official website of (soft) romcom anime Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san has just released a new teaser visual for its second season. It features female lead Takagi-san happily pulling along a koinobori (carp kite), dragging along her favorite person to bully, Nishikata.

In today’s “things that the Internet is expressing collective fright on”: Paramount Pictures has just released a trailer for the much-talked about Sonic the Hedgehog live-action film. I’d describe it to you, but I think it’d be best if you watch it for yourself: The internet is having a field day on the trailer, pointing out Sonic’s (downright horrifying) human teeth, his gloveless hands (because apparently, he has white hands.

Good news to anime fans living in the Midwest: Anime Central 2019 will be bringing in lots of big names in the anime world. Most prominent of their guest will be two well-known seiyuus, Kiyono Yasuno and Hinata Sato.

Preparations and celebrations for the end of the Heisei Era and the beginning of the Reiwa Era are underway in Japan. On May 1, Crown Prince Naruhito’s Reiwa Era will begin, and along with it are special episodes for some Japanese TV shows.
