Dual Parallel Trouble Adventure [TV]
Kazuki Yotsuga is a high school otaku who somehow has visions of robots fighting each other across multiple battles. He records the things he sees in his website, which often becomes a target for ridicule and bullying. One day, the most popular girl in their high school, Mitsuki Sanada, approaches Kazuki and tells him that she admires his stories.
However, it turns out that it was only a trap, as Mitsuki only wanted to lure Kazuki to her father Dr. Sanada. Kazuki is then sent to a parallel world where his visions exist and the threat of destruction is real.
About the Show
Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure is a mecha-comedy anime series created by Masaki Kajishima. Produced by studio AIC, the series aired a total of 13 episodes (plus an OVA) between April 8, 1998 and July 1, 1999.
Season Summary
Episode 1: Life Sympathy
Kazuki has the ability to see a parallel world wherein giant robots battle and destroy the city. He then meets Ken Sanada, a college professor who studies advanced quantum physics in his leisure time. Sanada explains that he might have just found the bridge between two parallel worlds, and wishes to study Kazuki and his unique ability. However, Kazuki is accidentally sent into the parallel world after Mitsuki mistakenly activates the quantum portal machine. An injured female pilot emerges from a fallen robot and collapses into Kazuki’s arms.
Episode 2: My Home
Kazuki heads out to buy medicide for Yayoi, the injured female pilot of Hartzenen. Upon returning, Yayoi and her robot are nowhere to be found. Later, Kazuki is taken into custody by Mitsuki, accompanied by a military entourage. They take him to their headquarters, where the Dr. Kanada of this parallel world awaits him. Apparently, Dr. Kanada is the UN leader of the Global Defense Force, and they are at war against the evil Rara Army.
Episode 3: Illegal Guy
Amazed at how Kazuki managed to activate a robot despite being a male, Akane persuades Kazuki to become Hartzenen’s pilot. Later, Kazuki engages in battle together with Mitsuki and D.
Episode 4: No Disguise
Wanting to keep Kazuki’s existence in this parallel world under cover, Akane asks Sanada to make a female uniform for him. Kazuki goes along with this plan, but immediately had a change of heart after the other pilots make fun of him. He runs away in embarrassment, and meets Yayoi on his way.
Episode 5: Campus Life
Kazuki starts to attend school, under the disguise as Mitsuki’s younger brother. Mitsuki’s admirers flocked around him, asking Kazuki to deliver their love letters. The next day, Sanada decides that D will live together with Kazuki and Mitsuki. Moreover, D is to stay in Kazuki’s room, which upsets Mitsuki. Later, Mitsuki’s dilemma only worsens, as Sanada instructs Yayoi to live with them too.
Episode 6: Intrigue
Annoyed with how Yayoi outplays her at home, school, and even at the base; Mitsuki sets up a plan to marry off Yayoi. Reika arranges a meeting for Yayoi with a wealthy businessman, despite her protest. Furthermore, the meeting place is dangerously close to the boundary between them and the Rara army. They proceed with the meeting anyway. However, Mitsuki’s plan fail after Kazuki inadvertently causes an emergency evacuation that cancels Yayoi’s meeting. Kazuki ends up saving an enemy, Miss Ra, from falling to her death.
Episode 7: Hard Case
The Rara army turns their interest to Kazuki, and plans to capture him. They concentrate on attacking the Hartzenen, and Kazuki ends up getting stranded behind enemy lines. Meanwhile, the UN army are unable to penetrate and rescue him.
Episode 8: Mitsuki
Miss Ra saves Kazuki, and was revealed to be Mitsuki Rara, the Mitsuki of this parallel world. She appears to be showing signs of attraction, evident in the change of her demeanor towards Kazuki. However, Ayuko discovers Kazuki’s true allegiance, along with evidence that he is the pilot of Hartzenen.
Episode 9: Escape
After managing to escape from the Rara and return to Earth Defense Force territory, Kazuki tries to rest and recover. Meanwhile back at Rara, Ayuko discovers that the HIMC is rejecting Miss Ra as its pilot due to her feelings for Kazuki, prompting her to make desperate actions. Lead by a brainwashed Miss Ra, an army of HIMC copies relentlessly attack the EDF and quickly gains the upper hand. After the Hartzenen’s destruction, Kazuki accidentally summons the robot Zinv from within the EDF headquarters. The EDF finally manages to repel the invaders, and Kazuki rescues Miss Ra from the HIMC.
Episode 10: Repatriate
Mitsuki Rara moves into Kazuki’s house, together with Mitsuki Sanada, Yayoi, and D. With the new Zinv in their arsenal, the EDF starts to gain advantage over the Rara army. Rara then demands the return of his daughter Miss Ra, but the UN refuses. Enraged, Ayuko reveals their new weapon and orders an all-out attack. With a sudden blinding flash, Zinv and Mitsuki Sanada’s robot vanish.
Episode 11: Real
Kazuki wakes up and finds himself back in his home world. Despite worrying about the parallel world, he tries to familiarize himself again with Earth. However, the Rara and Ken Sanada of this universe accidentally breaks the barriers between worlds, creating a rift between the parallel worlds. Massive chaos and confusion follows.
Episode 12: Ardent Desire
Kazuki returns to the parallel world, and discovers that the EDF has been abandoned by the UN. Meanwhile, Mitsuki Sanada is tricked into piloting the final version of the HIMC. Ken discovers that both his and Kazuki’s world are about to face annihilation.
Episode 13: The World
The HIMC defeats the Zinv, trapping Kazuki inside. In an attempt to rescue Kazuki, D crashes the artifact ship into Rara’s headquarters destroying her body with it. This sacrifice unlocks the limiter on Zinv, enabling it to manifest its Light Hawk Wings. With the upgraded Zinv, Kazuki rescues Mitsuki and destroys Rara’s base once and for all. After the fight, they discover that a third parallel world had formed, a world where the first and second worlds have fused.
