Ayumi Mamiya is a witch, cursed to lose her powers. She only has one chance of breaking this spell, and that lies upon a seemingly normal boy, Haruo Yoshikawa.
Haruo, ignorant to the existence of magic, has his 3 witch sisters protecting him. The Yoshikawa sisters will do anything to protect Haruo, especially from Ayumi Mamiya, who now has plans to awaken his latent magical powers.
About the Show
Magikano is an anime adaptation of the romantic-comedy manga series under the same name, written and illustrated Takeaki Momose. Produced by studio Tokyo Kids under the direction of Seiji Kishi, Magikano aired a total of 13 episodes between January 3, 2006 and March 28, 2006.
Season Summary
Episode 1: “Is She Really a Magical Girl?”
Haruo encounters Ayumi on the street, but she suddenly disappears, leading him to think that he saw a ghost. The next day, Ayumi appears at Haruo’s school, and is introduced as a transfer student to their homeroom. Ayumi covertly uses her magic to deal with two bullies, which then alerts the witch sisters of Haruo. Later, Haruo finds Ayumi asleep on their couch, and learns that she will be now working as a maid for the Yoshikawa household. Not so long after, Ayumi’s curse is revealed, but she is permitted to stay nonetheless.
Episode 2: “Is The Student Council Head Really a Magical Girl?”
Ayumi instantly becomes popular and is idolized by the boys in their school, which upsets the Student Council President Yuri Kurosu. In an attempt to compete with Ayumi and ultimately deflate her popularity, Yuri goes more outgoing and engaging with the male students. This rivalry escalates rapidly, leading to a fashion competition that turns the school into a festival-like event. With neither having no plans of losing, they both start to use magic and turns the harmless fashion show into a battle against opposing fans.
Episode 3: “Are They Really a Pair of Dangerous Siblings?”
Ayumi creates a portal into Haruo’s dream, with the goal of making him more manly. However, the plan backfires when she nearly got trapped within the dream. The next morning, Ayumi contemplates about her experience and concludes that Haruo is immature due to Maika spoiling him. In order to learn more about the relationship between Maika and Haruo, the girls (Ayumi, Chiaki, Fuyuno, Yuri) open the past gate to see what happened in the past. There, they discover that Maika loves her brother more than they had expected.
Episode 4: “Was it Really Stolen?”
Ayumi, Maika, Chiaki, and Fuyuno enjoy a relaxing bathe together. However, their fun time is ruined when an unknown person steals all of their underwear. The gang then sets out to catch the perpetrator, only to come up empty. Later, a new character is revealed.
Episode 5: “Is She Really a Witch Hunter?”
The new character is revealed to be Marin Nijihara, a witch hunter. She attacks Ayumi, but Haruo shows up in the middle of their fight, halting it. Ayumi then takes Haruo home, and tells her sisters about Marin. The next day, Marin shows up at their school as a transfer student. After losing to another battle against Ayumi, Marin sets out to find her weakness. Later, Ayumi, Maika, Marin, and Yuri compete with each other in giving Haruo a lunch box.
Episode 6: “Did a Ghost Really Show Up?”
Haruo ends up getting hit by Ayumi, after he tries to scare her by telling a ghost story. Later, Haruo is attacked and turns into ectoplasm. The girls then team up to save Haruo, and encounters a ghost spirit.
Episode 7: “Did a Maid Really Come?”
Coming home from school, Haruo and his sisters find a stranger holding a magical gun in their residence. The stranger introduces herself as Rika Anju, and that she has come to assist Ayumi as a maid. Later, Rika and Ayumi compete with each other to get Haruo’s attention.
Episode 8: “Was it Really a Winner’s Kiss?”
Ayumi uses her magic and creates a book where everything written in it will happen. Suddenly, the 3 sisters and Yuri interrupt her. In their squabbling, the letters in the book get scrambled and becomes “Haruo is going to kiss the girl who becomes MVP”. The girls immediately rush to win the MVP spot for “Woman-only Ultra Race!”. After an intense competition, Ayumi wins but Chiaki is crowned as MVP, and receives a kiss from Haruo, shocking everyone.
Episode 9: “Is He Really a Sleeping Prince?”
At a school festival, Haruo, his siters, Ayumi, and Yuri participate in the play Cinderella. Suddenly, Michiru Mamiya, Ayumi’s sister, abducts Haruo. The sisters and the others then go after Haruo, and faces against fairytale characters. Later, Haruo awakens his magic and defeats Michiru, who then vows revenge.
Episode 10: “Are They Really Cursed Cat Panties?”
Ayumi becomes upset after failing her several attempts in seducing Haruo. In order to help with this venture, Rika gives Ayumi a magical panty which drives men crazy. After wearing the magical panties, Ayumi learns that the only one who can take it off is Haruo. The episode proceeds with Ayumi’s failed attempts to make Haruo take off her magical panties.
Episode 11: “Was it Really a Holy Night?”
It’s Christmas season and the girls are trying to win Haruo’s attention as usual. However, Haruo seems to ignore the bickering and squabbling of the girls over him. Later, they find out that Haruo is working in a cake shop with a girl, which makes Ayumi jealous.
Episode 12: “Is it Really the Time of Awakening?”
It’s New Year’s Eve and Haruo passes out the money from his parents to his sisters and Ayumi. After visiting a shrine, they discover that Haruo is a Demon Lord. Later, Michiru appears once again and abducts Haruo.
Episode 13: “Is it Really the Last Episode?”
The girls go after Michiru to save Haruo. However, Michiru drains power from Haruo, making her stronger than the others. Haruo’s power as Demon Lord awakens, and now everyone must work together to save him.
