# Season 2 Announced for “Rent-a-Girlfriend”

<p class="MsoNormal">The summer 2020 anime season may be ending, but it won’t be the end for some series that got a lot of fan love this season! One of the much-talked about series this summer 2020 was the anime adaptation of Reiji Miyajima’s romcom manga series <em>Rent-a-Girlfriend </em>(<em>Kanojo, Okarishimasu</em>)—and its successful run has earned it a second season! The special announcement was made at the end of the series’ last episode, which aired last Saturday. <p class="MsoNormal">The anime premiered last July 10. The lead cast members are:</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Both Amamiya and Yuki reprised their roles from an earlier-released promotional video that celebrated the release of the manga’s fifth volume in 2018.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The first season was directed by Kazuomi Koga (<em>Rainy Cocoa, Welcome to Rainy Color</em>) with Mitsutaka Hirota (<em>The Prince of Tennis II, Anime-Gataris</em>) supervising the scripts. Character design was done by Kanna Hirayama, and HYADAIN is in charge of composing the music. The anime series was produced by TMS Entertainment.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">English-language publishing rights are held by Kodansha Comics, who will release the manga in English starting next year. The company describes the story as such:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><em>“In Japan, the lonely have a new way out — online services that rent out dads, children, even girlfriends! When Kazuya's true love dumps him, he's just desperate enough to try it, and he's shocked at how cute and sweet his rental girlfriend turns out to be. But she wants to keep their "relationship" a secret, and there's a complication... she goes to his university... and their grandmothers are in the same home... and they live next door to each other?! And Kazuya finds out she's not nearly as nice in "real life"...”</em></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><em>Kanojo, Okarishimasu</em> was first launched by Reiji Miyajima in July 2017 in Kodansha’s <em>Weekly Shonen Magazine</em>.</p>
