Over the past few years up to this point, millions of viewers hastily looked for new ways to entertain themselves.
October is finally here, and in the world of anime it means that the Fall 2020 anime season has officially started! While some series already had an early start by premiering last weekend, it still won’t hurt to know which titles are the most anticipated by fans in Japan, yes?
Hence a survey was recently held by Japanese mobile phone operator NTT Docomo, asking fans what their most anticipated fall 2020 titles are. The survey was conducted among users of streaming service dAnime Store, and was able to collate a total of 92,891 votes from September 25 to October 2.
From a list of 62 anime titles, The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor Arc topped the list with 7,759 total votes! Visitor Arc is the 2nd season of the series, and it had already premiered this October 3. Perhaps the long gap between the first and second seasons—season 1 ended way back 2014—was the main reason why it is the most anticipated this fall season.
The second most anticipated title was Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon III, the third season in the series. The title got a total of 7,047 votes from fans.
Third and fourth place in the poll are also sequels: Is the Order a Rabbit? BLOOM, also the third season for the series, got 4,355 votes; Haikyuu To the Top! 2nd cour placed fourth with 4,310 votes.
Of the top 5 titles, only the anime adaptation of Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen is the non-sequel series, getting a total of 4,066 fan votes.
