First Impression: Cells At Work

Synopsis

This is a tale that takes place within the human body. In the body, there are millions to trillions of cells working hard to maintain their world that is your body. From delivering oxygen to battling bacteria, this the story of anthropomorphic cells and their lives working in the human body.

The Good

It is a surprisingly educational work that has a rather fun comedy type of execution. The characters are all quirky in their own way and the episode really dealt a world-building foundation. The designs were also fun and just the overall creativity of this concept really catches the eye and mind. Strangely cute and funny may be the best way to describe the impression that this episode gave. It has this charm to it that makes you want to see more. And while there wasn’t all that much done on the characters, some of the humor scenes they had makes you want to see more of them.

The Bad

Honestly, the only flaw that can be said about the episode is that it may have dumped a little too much info in one sitting on certain scenes. Really, there are some moments where certain scenes have jargon that makes you want to pause and just process what exactly was said. Other than this, the characters could have had more done with their personalities with how much is being revealed about the world and the way things work.

Conclusion

It’s the kind of episode/work that you don’t expect to enjoy but somehow you do and you also learn a little bit of something as well. The world-building is great, the comedy is solid and the characters are cute in their own way. As a comedy work, there isn’t much to critique with the first episode in terms of story. To be honest, the only thing that can be nitpicked from the episode is that some jargon and information that may not appeal to everyone, really though, it’s a fun little series that may teach something.
