Comic Market 92 is considered a haven for those who are looking for doujins, visual novels, merchandise, and other media forms created by dedicated groups or individuals in a particular Japanese fandom or series. Comic Market usually happens every Summer and Winter of each year.
Also popularly known as Comiket, over 160,000 people were recorded to attend the event’s first day. The highest volume of attendees ever recorded so far was in summer 2013 where over 210,000 were recorded in attendance. The Comiket staff is expecting bigger number this year since Friday was also a holiday in Japan and the first day number of attendees was already massive.
There were some changes to this year’s event venue however. West 2 Hall of Tokyo Big Sight is closed due to some expansion construction work being done in preparation for the upcoming Olympics in 2020.
The first day of the previous Comiket 91 was able to record over 170,000 numbers of attendees on December 29.
With this massive number of people on its first day, it is proof that Japan’s Comic Market is one of the most highly anticipated events to attend to for any anime, manga, or doujin fan.
