The Captain Tsubasa stage play titled Super Experience Stage Captain Tsubasa will be kicking off this August and diehard fans can’t seem to wait for it. In the production’s official website, a new visual has been revealed as well as three new videos which the first and second video introduces Hikaru Matsuyama and Taro Misaki (both will be respectively playing the roles of Soichiro Sorihashi and Ko Kanegae). The third video features Ryota Hirono and Keita Osane (playing Kazuo and Masao Tachibana respectively) practicing the Skylab Hurricane technique.
The play will be an adaptation of the Captain Tsubasa manga created by Yoichi Takahashi. The play will only have a limited run of 23 performances from August 18 to September 3 at the Zepp Blue Theater Roppongi in Tokyo. Japanese producer, dancer, and choreographer Kenichi Ebina (EBIKEN) is the play’s executive producer while Kazukya Matsunaga is the choreographer and Tsuyoshi Kaseda is the production adviser and script writer. The website states that the play will feature a unique combination of mediums like illusion techniques, martial arts, and dancing incorporated with the latest digital technology.
For those who are not familiar with the series, Captain Tsubasa is a manga series first launched in 1981 in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The series ended in 1988 which was then compiled in 37 volumes. The manga gained huge popularity that it was adapted into three anime series, several spinoff manga, several OVAs, and four anime films. Shonen Jump also released a oneshot manga of the series published in 2008.
The series is centered on an 11-year-old boy named Tsubasa Ozora. His immense love for soccer and has been praised by his coach Roberto due to his great skills and love for the sport. Tsubasa gets an adventure of his life when he to Brazil along with his coach to train for the World Cup.
The stage play adaptation stars Seiya Motoki playing the main protagonist Tsubasa Ozora. Other cast members include Yuho Matsui as Kojiro Hyuga, Ruysuke Nakamura as Genzo Wakabayashi, Shuto Washio as Jun Misugi, Ko Kanegae as Taro misaki, Kazumi as Makoto Soda, Soichiro Sorihashi as Hikaru Matsuyama, Koki as Hiroshi Jito, and Mao Kato as Jun Nitta.
Other cast members who will also take part on the upcoming stage play like Kazuki Watanabe as Ken Wakashimizu, Keita Osone as Kazuo Tachibana, Ryu Kiyama as Ryo Ishizaki, Ryota Hirono as Masao Tachibana, Ryo Segawa as Tatsuo Mikami, and Toshihiko Tanaka as Roberto Hongo. The play will also include Yu Kitamura, Tatsuya Isaka, Kazuya Matsunaga, and Shunichiro Saito.
