The anime community is full of themes for every genre, ranging from the familiar magical girl theme of the shoujo genre to the unique viewpoints of the supernatural world. There are various themes that can be done into anime and it has all been brought to life in the most colorful of ways, a theme such as dancing is a prime example of this.

From the upcoming January 6 announcement of “Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine” February 2017 issue, a new manga to anime adaptation is to be made and its name is “Welcome to the Ballroom/ Sweep Over the Dance Hall” a.k.a “Ballroom e Yōkoso” by Tomo Takeuchi.

As the name states the manga itself centers on the theme of ballroom dancing and combines with the familiar elements of the shounen genre. The story follows high school boy Tatara Fujita who years to achieve at something, anything, or to even change himself. Sadly he is average as can be and in turn this makes him a target for bullies.

This all changes when he encounters dancer Sengoku Kaname and he is introduced to the world of ballroom dancing. Upon seeing the beauty of said dance Tatara is inspired and is determined to learn, especially so after learning his classmate Hanaoka Shizuku is an experienced dancer and meeting her partner Hyoudou Kiyoharu. With little to no experience Tatara has only his determination and hard work in order to make it through the fiercely competitive world of ballroom dancing.

The manga first began with its publication in the “Monthly Shonen Magazine” on 2011 and has been ranked on “Comic Natalie’s” and “Kono Manga ga Sugoi!” guidebook’s lists of best manga in 2013 and has also gained a nomination for the “Manga” Taisho awards.

Currently there is no other news on the production of the anime other than what has just been reported.
