Studio Ghibli’s (known for its popular anime films Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Princess Mononoke to name a few) film titled Ocean Waves will be screening in North America starting on December 28. This was officially confirmed by the distributor GKIDS.
The anime movie will be screened first at the IFC Center in New York. Other US cities will then follow in January 2017.
Ocean Waves has never been released in North America even in Home Video. This original 1993 television special along with Ghibli’s other film work Grave of the Fireflies were missing in a landmark international distribution deal between Tokuma Shoten and the Walt Disney Company in 1996.
