Imagine making your own custom figure, one-of-a-kind and displayable on your wall or shelf. Pretty cool, no? Well the good news is that yes, it can be done and you have a number of options for bringing your own avatar or design into the world thanks to the camel of joy that we call commerce!

3D printing from CAD designs or other frameworks is now a possiblity. Some even come in color, so there’s no painting required. While I don’t see this out-stripping the garage kit industry (not a huge market at all these days) or putting Revoltech’s in the dustbins of the world, I do think that such personalization of designs will always have a place for the discerning fan. The prices aren’t horrendous, either, although you will drop at least a hundred for your own personal “you.”
Read about one person’s experience making their figure and marvel at the design. There are several companies doing this now, and a quick search revealed some good options in a matter of seconds. Dig I.Materialize, for instance. The big one for WoW folks is FigurePrints.
I think I want to get one of KuttSinister with his foot resting on a mountain of vanquished enemies, or one of myself while I still have hair.
Special thanks to Steve Nagata for the heads up!
figma, figures
i really wouldnt mind one of those machines... they look epic!!!! but then i would just spend hours make random anime characters that i design.
That sounds rather cool. :D
epic. pure concentrated epic. in a bottle. mmmmm, epic!! :P
I would love it if some of my drawings could be made into figurines
I wish I could draw just so I could make a cool anime version of myself with a huge flaming sword and an explosion behind me!
dam those r clean!!!!
not only do i want to see some of my drawings as 3d figures... but i want that machine && am guessing that my favorite part would be to use that little thing to take away the sand ^-^
that fig is so cute i want it
awww looks cute
nice figure, but some people think they can draw and they are misinformed, but if you actually have skill it would be great
Cute..
Awesome :)

1 year, 5 months agoI think I'd settle for the professionally designed PVC pieces from Good Smile...Not only are they relatively cheaper, but cold-cast PVC is a much studier material and they can do things like metal frames for those tricky, yet epic poses. I was considering getting one from Figure Prints for my WoW character, preferably one of every gear set that I had (I have quite a few), but the price is just too much for what I was looking for. Plus, I'm still waiting on an epic, OMFG druid set so that I pair it up with my orange hammer for massive nerd points.
