Japan Front: Seiyuu Dating with Disney

Get Into It.

Are you a seiyuu fan? Do you like Disney movies from the good old days? If you are either, then there’s a CD that may be just right for you.

Disney Date Koe no Oujisama is a compilation album consisting of tracks by ten popular male seiyuu, all of whom will be covering Disney hits in Japanese.

The titles included in the Standard Edition are:

1) Kamiya Hiroshi – You Can Fly! (Peter Pan)
2) Suzumura Kenichi – The Whole New World (Alladin)
3) Fukuyama Jun – Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo (Cinderella)
4) Sakurai Takahiro – When You Wish upon a Star (Pinocchio)
5)*Sugita Tomokazu* – One Jump Ahead (Alladin)
6) Midorikawa Hikaru – Can You Feel the Love Tonight (The Lion King)
7) Morikawa Toshiyuki – Once Upon a Dream (Sleeping Beauty)
8) Seki Tomokazu – Go the Distance (Hercules)
9) Irino Miyu – Under the Sea (Little Mermaid)
10) Yamadera Koichi – Circle of Life (The Lion King)
11) Mickey Mouse March

And here’s the teaser:

Honestly, it’s not the best cover album in terms of singing abilities, but it does contain a splendid selection of participants for the hardcore seiyuu fans out there. I found it interesting (and fitting) that they included Yamadera here, since he has done more dub work for Disney characters than any other seiyuu in Japan, including Donald Duck (a long-time role for him), as well as Genie, Sebastian, Beast, Mushu, Stitch, and many others.

For those out there who want a more romantic experience, the Delux Edition might be a better choice.

The Delux Edition is a special 2-disc package consisting of a disc that contains the same songs as above (except for the Mickey Mouse March, which is not included), and an extra disc that includes dating scenarios with each seiyuu, where you listen to them speaking while in dating situations. There is different setting for each story and seiyuu. For example: one story is about going to Disney Land and enjoying rides together, one is about shopping together at the Disney Store, and another is about watching Disney movies at one of the seiyuu’s house.

If you want to immerse yourself into a fantasy world, be it one of seiyuu or of Disney, this would be a good album to grab. Besides it is amusing to hear Japanese translations of those familiar songs that you listened to so many times as a kid.

Both the Disney Date “Koe no Oujisama” Standard Edition and the Delux Edition will be released on February 22nd, 2012. Both editions will come with a booklet containing photos.

If you live in Japan, you can purchase the Delux Edition at the Animate store or buy it at the Animate Online Shop to be eligible to win an admission ticket to a special talk event by Midorikawa and Irino. For more details on the event, check out Animate.
