There have been rumors and whispers regarding the new Nintendo 3DS for the last few months but the facts have finally surfaced. In a press conference, Nintendo laid out the details: The system will be available in either black or aqua blue but they will be missing the entire holiday season. Instead will release it in Japan on February 26th in Japan for 25,000 yen ($300). The US/UK release is set for March 2011 with a more firm release date to be released later.
So beyond being a Japanese company and an initial Japan release, what does this have to do with anything? Love Plus 3DS, that’s what! As part of the initial roll out (which will also include 3D versions of Super Street Fighter IV, Metal Gear Solid 3, Mario Kart and others), one of the first games to be released will be the latest addition to the franchise titled Project Love Plus. A trailer was released yesterday and it doesn’t boast any particularly new features so far but you know that there are already plenty of guys in Japan who are chomping at the bit to see their virtual girlfriends in 3D detail. Now, if only they would announce a US release date for this and even I might be tempted to drop money that I don’t have on both the 3DS and game. Or I could just buy a regular DS and a used copy of one of the previous versions. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been with a girl that had a few jealous exes.
