Japan Learns to Tweet With Manga

If you can learn calculus through manga, why not Twitter?

If there’s one thing that Japan has taught me, it’s that there is no subject that is too big or small to be explained via manga and once again that point is being emphasized with two books targeting the scary wilderness that is Twitter. In the first book released over the summer titled Mitaka no Chushin de Nau wo Tsubuyak (I Tweeted “Now” at the Heart of Mitaka), artist Yoko Gendai uses the manga format to take readers through Twitter 101. Everything from registration, learning how to interact with people and how to use the various features are covered in the manga giving those who had never heard of the service before a crash course in how to jump on the band wagon (because, as I’ve also learned, Japan likes to collectively jump on band wagons).

For those in Japan who are already familiar with Twitter and are looking for something less novice, another new manga titled Tsuitta! – 4 Koma de Tanoshimu Tonari no Twitter (Twitter – Joy of Twitter in 4 Frame Cartoons) is also being created by Ajiko Kojima (Tonari no 801-chan) and published by Enterbrain. In this series, Kojima will take readers through daily anecdotal experiences that she’s had by hanging out on Twitter and interacting with other users. If you’ve never used Twitter this may sound like a ridiculously boring concept. If you have used Twitter you’re already starting to remember all the weird one off conversations you’ve had with people and chuckling a little that those experiences are going to be turned into a comic. I know that’s what you’re doing because that’s exactly what I did. This particular title will be hitting shelves on the 25th of this month and should it ever get localized for release here I just might have to pick it up.

So now we have manga for Twitter, when do we see the Twitter doujinshi being sold at Comiket?
